Cooling Tower Trouble-Shooting Guide for Conductivity Controllers

Chemical Residual Within Recommended Range Chemical Residual Above Recommended Range Chemical Residual Below Recommended Range
Conductivity Within Recommended Range All is working well
  1. Reduce chemical feed pump settings.
  2. Reduce concentration of chemical mixture
  1. Check to see that chemical pump is primed.Increase chemical feed pump setting
  2. Increase concentration of chemical mixture
Conductivity Below Recommended Range
  1. Check to see that probe for controller is clean. Do not touch with fingers, use cloth to clean.Check to see that controller is properly set.Check solenoid for excessive bleed caused by dirt or sediment not allowing solenoid to close.Check float in tower for high water level causing overflow.
  2. Check for water leaks in system.

Conductivity Above Recommended Range
  1. Check to see that probe for controller is clean. Do not touch with fingers, use cloth to clean.Check solenoid to see that it is opening for bleed as required.Check coil on solenoid to see that it is energized when coil should be open.
  2. Check strainer location before solenoid to make sure it is clean and allowing good flow.
